“He has lost support from important groups that put him in the presidency, some of the richest and also some of the oldest people,” said Bruno Carazza, a law professor at Ibmec in São Paulo. “Support for him is getting weaker, and an impeachment could enter the political scenario in the medium term. In the short term, I think it’s very unlikely . . . it makes sense for his enemies to wear him out.”
